Storytime: Wednesday-Jo
My grandfather and my dad used to have Thursday lunches every week to catch up and spend quality time with one another. I believe that everything in life no matter how big or small starts with a simple invitation or string of words that can change the course of everything, Wednesday represented that for both my father and grandfather, but what moment in time encapsulated that for me, and what could mark it?
Wednesday. The day I got married, the day both my mother and grandfather were born, when I thought about the beginnings of this brand, and a collection of other reasons. Jo. The name that my grandfather primarily went by and the namesake of who started their business that my father would create his own out of. Now to keep it all poetic and kismet, I thought about how to wrap up that moment in my ancestry by coupling it with how most invites conclude. I envisioned my grandfather saying Thursday-Jo to my dad. At that moment it all seemed to fit in this cosmic way, that if I were to represent the ones that started the creativity and the ones that support me to sustain it, then my sign off to others as they receive their invites should be “Wednesday-Jo”.

I am a self proclaimed weirdo with the best intentions and I wear all the hats for Wednesday Jo. Designing and creating all the elements has to be my favourite part of this portion of my imagination made real. What started as a flicker of possibility has now grown into something concrete for my creative side to take hold of a fasten new adventures onto it. As a teacher of little ones, I was missing putting my art degrees to use in ways that fulfilled me. When I started playing around with digital art and using Canva everyday I realized that I could make something accessible to others, but with my own designs. Invitations are just the start for Wednesday Jo and I can't wait for the additions to present themselves.
